Community support is an important component to help make this a great event each year. Dedicated volunteers, are important to make sure that this is a safe well supported event. As one of the larger bicycle events in the Kansas City metro area, this provides an excellent opportunity to be part of an activity that not only is fun and unique, but also serves our local community in many ways.
2018 LENEXA MOONLIGHT BIKE RIDE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Packet Stuffing: Saturday, July 14, 9am-3pm: Volunteers are needed to help with packet stuffing on Saturday, July 15th at the Lenexa Community Center, 13420 Oak St, Lenexa, KS 66215. End time is approximate and may vary based on the number of volunteers and the number of packets being stuffed. Volunteers are needed during the morning and afternoon that day. Lunch will be provided for those working over the noon hour.
Early Packet Pick-up: Friday, July 20, 10am – 6pm: Volunteers are needed to assist with packet pick-up on Friday, July 21 from 10 am to 6 pm at the Lenexa Community Center, 13420 Oak St, Lenexa, KS 66215.
Onsite Packet Pick-up: Saturday, July 21, 8pm – 10pm: Volunteers are needed to assist with onsite packet pickup before the ride begins at the Lenexa Community Center, 13420 Oak St, Lenexa, KS 66215.
Route Monitors: Saturday, July 21, 9pm-midnight (approximately): Volunteers will be assigned to positions along the bicycle ride route to monitor the ride, call-in for rider assistance as needed, and can feel free to cheer on riders as they pass that point of the ride. Riders will loop back on the same route for their return to the start/end point. Volunteers will need to report for assignments at 9:00pm on Saturday, July 21 and will need to be in position by 9:30pm prior to the ride start at 10pm. Route volunteers need to remain in their position until the conclusion of the ride and will be released by one of the SAG drivers or by police once the last rider has passed their position. The ride is expected to conclude by midnight or earlier.
Pancake Feed: Saturday, July 21, 8pm – 12:30am Sunday (approximately): Volunteers are needed to help with the pancake feed. Help is needed at the registration/check-in for the pancake feed and also with the setup, serving, and tear down for the pancake feed. Setup will start at approximately 8:00pm on Saturday, July 21 and tear down will end approximately 12:30am on Sunday, July 22, possibly earlier.
